Let me introduce myself: Ivan Correces here and I am working behind the scenes at TexasHoldem-Academy. My first spark of curiosity with Texas Holdem was the day I stumbled upon the movie, "Rounders". I found it quite entertaining but did not understand the basic rules of the game of No Limit Holdem. The Official Texas Holdem rules and regulations were unclear to me, so I asked a friend who played poker on a regular basis to teach me the basics. He gave me an overview of the holdem rules and poker hands, and we played my first heads-up (One on One) game. Surprisingly I won – My friend calling my all-in bet with my two pair -- And I achieved my first victory. I think poker pro Daniel Negreanu said it best, "Poker is like sex. Most people think they’re great at it, but they just suck." After experiencing my first victory in No Limit Holdem, I thought I could take on the poker world. I was still naïve and inexperienced. I played a $50 buy-in No Limit Holdem cash game at a friends house with a full table of 10 players, and oh boy, "did I suck." I lost it all under a half hour.
After that horrible experience, I took some helpful advice from poker players who’ve played for years (even before the poker craze). After learning the game, playing endless hours of Texas Holdem online and live, reading Texas Holdem books (Like Doyle Brunson's infamous Super System), learning the Texas Holdem terms and lingo, I finally reached a high level of confidence in my game. Putting my opponents on hands and calculating Texas Holdem odds became a natural part of my game. So enough of the chit chat, let's get right to it and start learning no limit texas holdem!
